Prime Minister Babiš met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Oman to discuss a direct airline connection and deeper economic cooperation
Direct airline link between Prague and Muscat would help increase the number of tourists and the development of economic relations. For Oman, developing tourism and building tourist infrastructure are top priorities. An increasing number of visitors are travelling in both directions, with Oman visitors being mainly interested in Czech spas. The Czech Republic signed a bilateral air transport agreement with Oman last month.
The Prime Minister and Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah also discussed Oman’s interest in SAWER, a technology developed by the CTU, which allows water to be extracted from the air in desert conditions. Oman is interested in further testing these technologies, with the possibility of using them in remote areas of the country. Today, Oman’s representatives will also visit the CTU to see the technology. Water management is also one of the areas in which Czech companies can succeed in Oman.
Negotiations are now underway to approve the double taxation agreement. Czech exports to Oman reached CZK 1.3 billion last year. The major item is passenger cars, whose exports are continuously increasing. Imports are dominated by aluminium and perfumes.
