Ing. Petr Bendl

Minister of Agriculture

Personal data:

Petrbendl was born in Kladno on 24th January 1966. Married and has two sons - Tomáš and Daniel.

Education:

In 1989 he graduated at the University of Mechanical Engineering and Textile in Liberec, in the master program Multi-Purpose Machine Tool Designer.

Employment:

In 1990 he started service as a firefighter in the Kladno District Firefighting Unit.

1990-1991 worked as the Head of the Defense office at the District authority in Kladno, in the years 1992-1994 as the Head of the Department of City development at the Kladno municipality.

In 1994 he became the Mayor of Kladno and remained in this position until 1998. In the years 1997-1998 he was a Deputy Chairman of the Union of Towns and Municipalities of the Czech Republic.

In 1998 PetrBendlwas elected into the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic.

In the years 2000-2008 PetrBendl held the position of Governor of the Central Bohemia Region.

In the year 2009 he was the Minister of Transportation in the Government of the Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek.

Political Career:

In the years 2002 – 2010 held the position of Chairman of the Central Bohemia Regional Organization of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS).

Petr Bendl has been the Minister of Agriculture since 6 October 2011.

Awards and accolades:

Petr Bendl is a Knight of the Order of Merit of the French Republic and anhonorary citizen of Štěchovice.

He was also awarded the Fire Rescue Serviceof the Czech Republic Medal of Honor, Commemorative Medal to the 5th anniversary of FRS CR for cooperation with FRS during the floods, Honorable Medal of Staff Captain VáclavMorávek for the support of the active reserve units, The Blue River Region Medal from the Junák Association of Scouts in the Czech Republic for the development of the Scout movement in the region of Central Bohemia, Honorable Medal of the Czech Police and the Commemorative Badge of the Director of the Regional Military Headquarters in Prague.
