Personal Details:
Born 24 November 1975.
Education:
Completed his study at the Law Faculty of the University of Western Bohemia in Plzeň. He later worked as a law clerk. In 2000 he then returned to the faculty as an expert assistant in the management law department. In 2002 he successfully finished his rigorous exams and became a doctor of law.
Professional and Public Activity:
In 1998 he actively took part in the founding of the regional association of the Young Conservatives in Plzeň, and later became its chairman. In 1998 he joined ODS and in 2000 was elected a representative of the newly-formed Plzeň regional government.
As a member of the Parliament of the Czech Republic, he held the position of deputy chairman of the Constitutional Law Committee and a member of the subcommittee for justice of the Constitutional Law, and was a member of the Subcommittee for Prisons and the Temporary Committee for Issues of the Constitution of the Czech Republic.
In 2003 he was selected as ODS' shadow justice minister. Shortly thereafter he became a member of the consultative advisory body of the president of the Czech Republic for the areas of law and legislation.
He serves as the chairman of the Regional ODS Organisation for the Plzeň region and is also a member of the ODS Executive Council. From 2006 to 2009 he served as the justice minister of the Czech Republic.
In 2010, as the leader of the Plzeň candidates for ODS, he was elected for a third time to the Chamber of Deputies. Since 2009 he has served as deacon of the Western Bohemian University Law Faculty. At the same time, he is also serving as a member of the ODS working group for talks on a coalition agreement in the area of education, research and development and culture.
