After studying at an English secondary school, she graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University in Prague.
Professional and Public Activity:
Karolína Peake worked as a clerk at the law offices of Baker&McKenzie.
She was elected to the Chamber of Deputies last year for the Věci veřejné [Public Affairs] party and became the chairwoman of the constitutional law committee. Since April she has been the chairwoman of Věci veřejné's parliamentary club. She has been a councilwoman for Prague 1 since 2006.
As a member of parliament, she is actively involved in the creation of the government's anti-corruption strategy for 2011 and 2012, has taken part in amendments on arbitation hearings, amendments to the criminal code, an amendment to the law on conflicts of interest, the topic of strengthening independence and at the same time responsibility for state prosecutors and judges, and the direct election of the president.
She has two sons, for whom she devoted a total of five years of family leave - during which she co-founded a maternal center, along with other mothers from Prague 1. It was through issues relating to children and childrens' playgrounds that she got involved in local politics and the Věci veřejné party.
