The working team of the tripartite discussed the European Council meeting to be held in December

On December 10th 2012 one of the regular meetings of the working team of the Council of Economic and Social Agreement devoted to EU affairs discussed preparations to the European Council.

First of all, the working team was provided with information on the results of the European Council which took place on 18th and 19th November 2012, and whose sole topic was the future Multiannual financial framework of the European Union for the years 2014-2020.

The preparation of the forthcoming European Council was discussed during the second part of the meeting. The Summit of the Heads of State and Government is to be held in Brussels on 13th and 14th December 2012. The delegations will address the topics related to economic policy and deal also with other issues including security and defense policy, EU enlargement and foreign policy.

The main topic of European council will be the economic policy, where a brief debate on the Annual Growth Survey for 2013 is expected, dealing also with the implementation of the European Semester in 2013, alongside with a short exchange of views on the completion of the EU Internal Market. The key question will be the deepening of the economic and monetary union linked to the current situation in the euro area. The Report of four Presidents “Towards a genuine economic and monetary union.” will serve as a basis for the discussion.

At the end of the meeting the working team has also touched upon the timetable of the preparation of the National Reform Programme for 2013.
