On Monday 26th January 2015, the Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met Frans Timmermans, the First Vice-President of the European Commission. Together they discussed current issues of European politics, common steps towards the deepening of the European integration as well as the priorities of the Czech Republic within the European Union.

The Prime Minister reminded that it is necessary to renew the citizens’ trust in the European community and institutions. Therefore, the European integration should focus particularly on improving the quality of life of citizens through sustainable economic development and job creation in the forthcoming decade.

”The European Union has to become a true area of freedom, security and justice. The Czech Republic supports the building of an open and safe European Union that defends democratic values. The new Czech government takes every step possible in order to deepen the European integration and it has a favourable approach to the European issues,“ stated the Prime Minister.
