Nečas authorised to head up government on temporary basis

The present Prime Minister Petr Nečas today submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic, Miloš Zeman. At the same time, Nečas was authorised to lead the government until a new one is appointed.

On 17th June 2013 at Prague Castle, Prime Minister Petr Nečas submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic and was at the same time authorised to lead the government until a new one is appointed.

"In accordance with Article 73 of the Constitution, Paragraph one, Clause one, I hereby submit my resignation", said the outgoing Prime Minister Petr Nečas to President of the Republic Miloš Zeman.

The President at the same time authorised Petr Nečas to lead the government on a temporary basis. "I would like especially to inform you that in accordance with our constitutional customs I authorise both you and your government to continue in the exercise of your functions until the appointment of a new government, but with the proviso that your government deal with operational matters, and not the taking of strategic state decisions", the President said.

He also thanked both the present Prime Minister Petr Nečas and the government for their work.
