Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Hrojsman on Tuesday 6 September 2016. The meeting took place at the Visegrád Group Prime Minister’s summit accompanying the Economic Forum in the Polish town of Krynica.

Topics discussed by both Prime Ministers included cooperation between the Czech Republic and Ukraine in politics and in economic area. They have also discussed the current developments in Eastern Ukraine and provision of additional transformation and humanitarian aid by the Czech Republic.

The total humanitarian, development, transformation and other aid provided by the Czech Republic to Ukraine amounted to approximately 45 million CZK in 2014 and about 80 million CZK in 2015. Support provided by V4 countries to Ukraine to bolster its reform efforts also remains significant. Ukraine has been the largest recipient of aid  within the framework of the “Visegrád 4 Eastern Partnership” programme focusing on supporting the civic society and strengthening of interpersonal contacts, and received 3.8 million EUR between 2004 and 2016.
