On Friday 17 February 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka received the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to the Czech Republic, Seoung-Hyun Moon in the Straka Academy. The Prime Minister congratulated the new ambassador on his new post, while at the same time praising the current excellent level of Czech-Korean relations.

During his meetings with the South Korean ambassador, Prime Minister Sobotka referred to the strategic partnership both countries entered into in February 2015. This covers five core areas of cooperation – economics, politics and security, education, culture and tourism, and also regional and global matters. Both parties agreed that the strategic partnership has benefited from intensive efforts from both sides. South Korea is now an important trading partner and investor in the CR, a partner in applied research, and there are also growing numbers of Korean tourists visiting the Czech Republic. Prime Minister Sobotka expressed his conviction that the new ambassador guarantees that the extremely warm relations between the two countries will be maintained in the future.
