Prime Minister Jiří Rusnok has received the delegation of Song Tao, Secretary of the Secretariat for Collaboration between China and the countries of Central and Eastern Europe. As part of its visit to the Czech Republic the Chinese delegation will take part in, among other events, the Prague China Investment Forum 2013.

Next year will mark 65 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations with the People’s Republic of China. In the words of Prime Minister Rusnok, the Sino-Czech meetings at this time are an exceptional opportunity for building and strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister further pointed out, that a working group had been established at Czech government level and is actively communicating with its Chinese counterparts. The main task of this group is to develop trade relations. Both men supported the Warsaw Initiative (collaboration between the 16 countries of Central and Eastern Europe and China), a meeting of which will be held 25-26 November in Bucharest.

The meeting also saw a more definite form put on the options for mutual collaboration. In the area of tourism this is support for a direct air route between the Czech Republic and China. There is also interest on the Chinese side in agricultural products, the energy sector and railways.

Concluding, Prime Minister Rusnok thanked them for their visit and their open efforts to build collaboration and said: “We are at the beginning of a completely new stage of mutual, live contacts between our two countries and also in the context of Sino-European relations. I would go so far as to say that this is a restart in our collaboration.”
