November 27: Premier To Meet Leading Environmentalist Patrick Moore, Briefing at 10:30 a.m.
On Tuesday, November 27, 2007, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek will meet the internationally acknowledged environmentalist Patrick Moore for talks on global issues concerning developments in the energy sector, nuclear energy, and climatic changes.
Patrick Moore, a Canadian, was one of the founders of the worldwide environmental group Greenpeace. He headed Greenpeace Canada for 9 years, and served as the Director of Greenpeace International until 1986. He then left Greenpeace, protesting that it was turning into an extremist organization. At present, Patrick Moore supports the development of nuclear energy, viewing it as the only real way of fighting CO2 emissions.
