Official Visit to Pakistan and Georgia

Between May 8 and 12, 2007, Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will pay an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and the Republic of Georgia.

pakistanIn addition to a group of Czech businessmen the Premier will be accompanied by Czech Industry and Trade Minister Martin Øíman, Minister of Culture Václav Jehlièka, and President of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic Václav Pačes.

During his visits the Czech Prime Minister will hold talks with his opposite numbers, Prime Minister Shaukat Azíz of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and Prime Minister Zuran Noghaideli the Republic of Georgia, and other officials in both countries.

With the forthcoming visit to Pakistan the Czech side wants to confirm its commitment to fostering mutual relations and to expanding space for the promotion of bilateral co-operation in the political, economic, security and cultural spheres.

The Czech Republic perceives the Republic of Georgia as its most important political partner in the South Caucasus, being interested, in this respect, in developing bilateral contacts. The Czech Republic supports Georgia’s efforts to strengthen its sovereignty and restore its territorial integrity. The Czech Republic could be a strategic partner for the Georgian economy in the energy and transportation sectors, and the related sphere of infrastructure modernization in health care and environmental protection.
