Roma Evening of Music, Singing, Dancing and Drama

Tomorrow, on Saturday, June 30, 2007, Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will visit Prague’s Ponec Theatre to see a performance entitled Romano Ilo – Roma Heart, which is staged by the Association in Support of Roma Culture in Prague.

Dancing, one of the cornerstones of Roma culture, will be featured as the main part of the evening programme, which is aimed at illustrating the advancement of Roma culture and at helping to raise its social recognition. Spectators may look forward to an author’s book reading, performance by the children’s ensemble Cikne Čhave, and a composed performance by soloists, dancers and orchestra of the Romathan professional theatre from the Slovak city of Košice. An exhibition installed in the lobby of the theatre presents historic photographs by different authors portraying the traditional Roma way of life.

The event will be held in Ponec Theatre, Husitská 24A/899, Prague 3, beginning at 8:00 p.m.
