Press Statement On The Galileo Project

The Government of the Czech Republic welcomes the decision to base the Galileo European GNSS Supervisory Authority (GSA) in the Czech Republic.

It considers this decision to be a sign of EU Member States’ confidence that the Czech Republic is best placed in the European Union to ensure the flawless running of this prestigious office and, at the same time, that it will play a fully fledged role in the overall management of this system.

This decision is recognition of the Czech Republic’s preparedness to provide quality facilities for activities associated with the operation of the GSA and for the related work by private and public entities involved in the preparation and operation of the Galileo satellite system.

It is also an undeniable achievement by our officials and relevant politicians at all levels and ministries involved. The long-term uniform, effective coordination of the Czech candidature at home and abroad is proof that the Czech Republic is capable of efficiently promoting its interests.

Petr Nečas, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic
