Daniel Münich

Lecturer at the Centre for Economic Research & Graduate Education - Economics Institute (CERGE-EI)

Daniel Münich was born in Prague in 1965 and is an academic economist. He graduated from the Czech Technical University in Prague and completed two overseas study programmes at prestigious universities in the U.S.A. before in 1998 earning a doctorate in economics at Charles University in Prague. He performs his academic work on the doctoral programme of CERGE-EI, a joint workplace of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic and Charles University in Prague, where his long-term focus is on labour economics, and the economics of schooling, education and research.

In addition to his research and teaching activities, over the past fifteen years he has also served as an expert or consultant for projects of the European Union, the International Monetary Fund, the OECD, the World Bank and many national institutions. His public activities relating to his field of expertise include long-term active membership of the Czech Economic Society, publishing articles in newspapers and popular magazines, and providing commentary on topics primarily associated with the labour market, schooling, education, science and research.
