The Committee for the European Union

The Committee for the European Union is a working body of the Government of the Czech Republic determining and coordinating Czech positions in the European Union. The Committee for the EU is composed of the members of the Government or of their deputies at working level.

The Committee for the European Union at government level participates in formulating strategic interests of the Czech Republic related to its membership in the European Union, in defining the Czech position towards crucial issues under discussion in the EU bodies and deals with other issues which are related to the membership of the Czech Republic in the EU. The Committee for the EU approves the mandate for the Czech delegation at the European Council.

The Committee for the European Union at working level deals with and approves the instructions for the Czech Permanent Representative at the meeting of the Permanent Representative Committee (COREPER), mandates for Czech ministers at the Council of the EU and other materials related to the current EU agenda.

The work of the Committee for the EU conforms with the Statute and the Rules of Procedure.
