Open Days in Hrzán palace

On 27th and 28th October, the Office of Czech Government will open Hrzán Palace for the public, to mark the anniversary of the foundation of the first Czechoslovak Republic (28th October 1918). Visitors will thus be provided with the first opportunity ever to see the interiors of the palace, which the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic uses for official and social functions.

An exhibition held in Hrzán Palace on the Open Days under the title “Symbols of the Republic” presents the official insignia of the Czech State, including the large and small versions of the national coat of arms, national colours, flag, seal and anthem and the presidential standard. These symbols fulfil mainly identification and representative functions, while at the same time serving as a reminder of the historical continuity and the millennium-long tradition of Czech statehood. The most important documents of Czech resistance against Austro-Hungarian rule within the Czech Lands and abroad are on display, too, together with Masaryk’s Washington Declaration and the first Czechoslovak act of law, drafted by Alois Rašín.

The Open Day events further include an exhibition of photographs by Herbert Slavík, documenting the first year of the government and foreign policy of Mirek Topolánek.

Opening hours: 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Address: Hrzánský palác, Loretánská 177/9, Prague 1
