Prime Minister Sobotka praised the increasing intensification of relations between the CR and Austria

On Thursday 11 December, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka received Heinz Fischer, the President of Austria. They mainly discussed further progress in Czech-Austrian relations.

Other topics of discussion included, for example, the construction of transport infrastructure, economic cooperation and the promotion of joint cultural and educational projects.

Prime Minister Sobotka praised the fact that the number of visits between Czech and Austrian representatives has increased significantly. He also highlighted a marked shift in the discussions taking place between the government ministers of both countries.

Cooperation is developing successfully not only in the economic sphere, but also in culture and education. The completion of the motorway and rail infrastructure remains a priority for both countries. The most important transport links include a high-capacity road from Brno to Vienna.

Heinz Fischer travelled to the Czech Republic for the meeting of the member countries of the Visegrad group, Austria and Slovenia, which is due to take place today and tomorrow at Prague Castle.
