Committee for the European Union approved the mandate for the meeting of European Council

The 130th meeting of Committee for the European Union at government level was held on 26 June 2013. The Committee approved a mandate for the European Council which would take place in Brussels on 27. and 28. June 2013. The main topic of the summit will be youth unemployment and discussion on promoting growth and competitiveness of the European economy. The European Council will also generally endorse country-specific recommendations for the EU Member States and through this step it will formaly complete the European semester 2013. The Heads of State and Government should also take note of the current development of discussions on proposals establishing the banking union and negotiations related to deepening of the Economic and Monetary Union. Furthermore, the European Council should confirm the start of accession talks with Serbia and negotiations on the Association Agreement with Kosovo.

The Committee for the European Union also approved the general framework for the systematic monitoring of discussions on important legislative proposals in the European Parliament and the framework position on a draft regulation on the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.
