Personal Information

Mgr. Kateřina Valachová, Ph.D. is married and has two daughters, Kateřina and Petra.

Education

After earning her postgraduate degree from the doctorate programme at the Masaryk University in Brno focussing on constitutional law, legal theory and administrative law Kateřina Valachová started her career as a lawyer for the Brno Magistrate.

Professional and Public Activities

Between 2002 and 2012 she worked for the Office of the Public Defender of Rights (Ombudsman) as the head of its legal department under the leadership of the then Ombudsmen Mr Otakar Motejl and Pavel Varvařovský.

Between 2013 and 2014 Kateřina Valachová  worked as the Director of the Legislative Department at the Office of the Senate of the Czech Republic. After that she was appointed into the position of the Deputy Minister for Human Rights, Equal Opportunities and Legislation in Ministry lead by Minister Jiří Dienstbier, and simultaneously she has held the position of the Vice-Chairwoman of the Government Legislative Council where she remain active to this day.

Kateřina Valachová had also acted as the member of the Government Legislative Council’s Administrative Law Committee and the member of the Social, Cultural and Economic Committee under the Government Council for Human Rights. Kateřina Valachová also lectured for the Department of Administrative Studies and Administrative Law at the Masaryk University in Brno.
