Speech by Prime Minister Andrej Babiš at the UN Summit on Biodiversity

Statement of Prime Minister Andrej Babiš on behalf of the Czech Republic.

Ladies and gentlemen, dear colleagues,

It is my privilege to join this Leaders Pledge for Nature today on behalf of the Czech Republic, alongside other world leaders who recognize that we are at an important turning point. It is our time and our shared responsibility to address the global environmental crisis and reverse the decline of biodiversity and ecosystem services.

The COVID-19 pandemic confirmed that in times of crisis, we are able to unite and to undertake bold actions in order to protect the most vulnerable among us. Let us build on this experience and act bravely together to achieve a transformative change of our society, as it might be the only way to give our children chance to live in a world where they can enjoy   health, wellbeing and prosperity.

This pledge is highly ambitious and ambition is exactly what we need now. Ladies and gentlemen, let me assure you that the Czech Republic wants to be part of a solution, not a part of a problem.
