Statement of Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka on terrorist attack in Nice

It was a terrible night for France as well as for all people in Europe. On behalf of the Government of the Czech Republic I want to express profound sympathy and condolences to the families of victims of the terrorist attack in Nice. France has our full support and solidarity. We face the threat of a perverted fanatic ideology, which disdains humanity and human lives. Together we must defeat terrorism. In the long term, we cannot be successful in this effort if we betray the democratic and humanistic values which are being attacked by the Islamist fanatics and terrorists. Once again, it is obvious how important it is for the European Union to focus on security and fight against terrorism as one of its crucial priorities.
