Prof. RNDr. Dalibor Štys, CSc.

Personal information

He was born on 1 September 1962 in Prague. He is married and has two sons.

Education

In 1987, he graduated from the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Charles University in Prague. He received the title of RNDr. in the field of biophysical chemistry. In 1995 he became a candidate of sciences in the field of biochemistry at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. In 2006 he became an associate professor in the field of natural science engineering at Technical University in Liberec. He gained his professorship in the field of applied physics in 2012 at Czech Technical University in Prague.

Professional and public activities

From May 1989 until November 1992, he worked as an assistant at the Institute of Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry at the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences. From November 1992 until October 1994, he had a post-doctoral stipend at Lund University in Sweden. He then worked at this university for a year as a research engineer.

After returning home in December 1995, he became a specialist assistant at the Faculty of Biology of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice and at the Třeboň facility of the Microbiological Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

From April 2002 until 2011, he held the position of director at the Institute of Physical Biology of the Faculty of Biology of the University of South Bohemia in České Budějovice.

From April 2002 until October 2008, he worked as a specialist assistant at the Institute of System Biology and Ecology of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

Since 2012, he has been the head of the laboratory of applied system biology and tissue culture lab of the complex systems school of the Faculty of Fisheries and Water Protection at the University of South Bohemia. He also held the position of Vice-Dean of Development at this university.

In November 2012 he became the director of the Department of Research and Development of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical Education.

He has published two books and approximately 40 articles in specialized academic journals.
