Congratulations from Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to Donald Trump on winning the US presidential election

Mr President – elect,

Please accept my congratulations on your election victory as President of the United States of America.

American citizens have decided for a candidate who offers new approaches and perspectives in a range of topics. Thus, a new phase of cooperation between the United States of America and the Czech Republic will commence based on a strong and unquestionable transatlantic partnership.

I wish you every success in carrying out the demanding and highly responsible duties in the role of the 45^th President of the United States of America, which is not only our key partner in the scope of transatlantic ties but also in bilateral relations based on common values such as freedom, democracy and respect for human rights.

I am also convinced that the partnership between our two countries based on strong political, economic as well as cultural ties will further develop. The Czech government stands ready to cooperate with your administration on issues such as the fight against international terrorism, our diplomatic representation of the USA in Syria and our  commitments as a member of NATO.
