Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka continues his two-day working visit to Sweden. After initial talks with Prime Minister Stefan Löfven, he attended a Czech-Swedish business seminar, focusing on the energy sector, and subsequently met with representatives of the Nordic Council of Trade Unions. During the afternoon he met members of the Czech expatriate community and students.

During his attendance of the Czech-Swedish business seminar, the Prime Minister reviewed the existing economic relations between the two countries and areas that could possibly be developed in future, including energy engineering in the Czech Republic, which is notable for its high potential for digitalisation and strong research profile. The Prime Minister is accompanied on his working visit by a business mission under the leadership of the Confederation of Industry of the Czech Republic, composed of representatives of companies operating in the areas of energy, metallurgy and related engineering fields with high innovation potential.

Another event in Prime Minister Sobotka’s programme in Stockholm was a meeting, together with the President of the Czech-Moravian Confederation of Trade Unions, Josef Středula, with representatives of the Nordic Council of Trade Unions. The topic of the meeting was wage convergence within the European Union and possible means of achieving this, aspects of the European Social Rights Pillar and the digital society, referred to as Society 4.0.

The Prime Minister then met with representatives of the Czech expatriate community and students who live and study in Sweden. During the meeting, the Prime Minister thanked his countrymen for spreading the good name, reputation and traditions of the Czech Republic abroad. Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka regularly meets with Czech expatriates during his foreign working trips, as was also the case, for example, in the USA, France and Korea. The Prime Minister will complete Thursday’s programme with a gala evening reception to celebrate Independent Czechoslovak State Day.
