Ivo Schwarz Will Be New Head of the Intelligence Service

Ivo Schwarz, the incumbent Deputy Director, has been appointed the new Head of the Bureau for Foreign Relations and Information, hence the Czech civilian intelligence service.

He was appointed by the Government on Wednesday, as announced by Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek. Schwarz has replaced Jiří Lang, who had temporarily led the Bureau since last year’s recall of Karel Randák. Lang remains as head of the counterintelligence service or the Security Information Service (known under its Czech acronym BIS).
