Open Day in Straka Academy On 28th October 2006

On 28th October, 2006, The Straka Academy – the seat of the Government of the Czech Republic - will open its doors to the public, as it did for the first time in 1997, on the occasion of the centenary of the start of its activities, and has been annually doing ever since, with the only exception of 2005.

This year the visitors will be provided with expert explanation about the history of the foundation established by Count Jan Petr Straka, of Czech statehood and the architectural development of the building. They will have an opportunity to see the study of the Prime Minister, the conference room where the Government meets for its deliberations, the press room and other premises used by Czech Government officials and staff.

Visiting hours are from 9 a.m. till 4 p.m.

Two plans – showing the layout of the Academy ground floor and first floor as it looked in 1893 till 1894 – will be on display in the photographic gallery.
