On Tuesday 16 July 2019, Prime Minister Andrej Babiš attended a working lunch with ambassadors of EU Member States and candidate countries in the Czech Republic. The working lunch was organized by the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland to Prague, Jukka Pesola.

On the occasion of Finland's presidency of the EU Council from 1 July 2019, Prime Minister Babiš met with ambassadors of EU Member States and candidate countries in the Czech Republic. The meeting mainly focused on the priorities of the EU common policy. The Finnish Presidency emphasizes the completion of the single market, strengthening the EU’s defence and security, and addressing key issues such as Brexit or negotiations on the EU’s multiannual financial framework.

“The Czech Republic is generally in favour of ambitious EU climate targets. However, caution is necessary. We cannot afford to jeopardize our economy and national industry. Although we can each concentrate on other aspects or have different views on specific issues, we will fully support the Finnish Presidency”, said Andrej Babiš to the ambassadors.
