Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka in talks with top EU leaders at the extraordinary European Council meeting

On Wednesday 16 July the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and the prime ministers and presidents of European Union member states attended an extraordinary European Council meeting in Brussels. The EU representatives EU particularly discussed filling key positions in the EU and the development of the situation in Ukraine.

On the fringe of the meeting Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met with the new President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker. They particularly discussed the sector and portfolio the Czech EU Commissioner would represent.

After lengthy talks, the representatives of the twenty-eight countries agreed to submit their proposals for members of the European Commission by the end of July. Another summit on this topic is planned for 30 August 2014.
