Prime Minister Petr Fiala had lunch with EU ambassadors

On Tuesday, 21 June 2022, Prime Minister Petr Fiala attended a working lunch with ambassadors of the European Union Member States in the Czech Republic. The working lunch was organised by the Ambassador of the French Republic to Prague, Alexis Dutertre.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala met with ambassadors of the EU Member States on the occasion of the end of the French Presidency and the upcoming Czech Presidency of the Council of the European Union from 1 July 2022. During the working lunch, the Prime Minister discussed the international situation caused by the war in Ukraine and presented the long-term strategic interests and priorities of the Czech Republic, which are reflected in five pillars of the Czech Presidency for the upcoming six months.

"It was a good opportunity to discuss the priorities we intend to pursue in the EU over the next six months," the Prime Minister said.

The Czech Republic, heading the European Union, wants to focus primarily on managing the refugee crisis and post-war reconstruction in Ukraine, energy security, strengthening European defence capabilities and cyber security, as well as the strategic resilience of the European economy and the resilience of democratic institutions.
