Prime Minister Sobotka Condoles with Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt Ismail

Your Excellency,

I am deeply struck by the news of today’s brutal attacks aimed at the Saint Mark’s church in Alexandria and the Saint George’s church in Tanta which claimed lives of more than forty innocent worshippers and left over a hundred wounded.

I strongly condemn these cruel and deplorable violent terrorist acts which were to spread fear and bring destruction to worshippers peacefully celebrating religious holidays and, at the same time, to demonstrate the power of shameful terrorist organisations. At this tragic moment, our thoughts are with the Egyptian people and all those who lost their loved ones.

Your Excellency, please accept my deepest condolences on behalf of myself as well as the Government of the Czech Republic.
