On Tuesday 9 May 2017, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka met the Prime Minister of the Moldovan Republic, Pavel Filip, at the Straka Academy. Their discussions covered principally economic and development collaboration and the regional situation. Both Prime Ministers then took part in a Czech-Moldovan Business Forum held at the Ministry of Industry and Trade.

In his introduction to the meeting, Prime Minister Sobotka confirmed that the Czech Republic considers Moldova as an important partner in the South-East Europe region. This year we celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

One of the meeting topics was the reinforcement of mutual economic collaboration. Czech companies could become involved in projects aimed at the modernisation and economic development of Moldova. The business delegation accompanying the Moldovan Prime Minister should also contribute to the reinforcement of mutual business links.

The Prime Ministers then went to the Czech-Moldovan Business Forum, where they spoke to representatives of Czech and Moldovan businessmen. The Forum was also joined by Minister of Industry and Trade Jiří Havlíček.

Prime Minister Filip of Moldova has come to the Czech Republic following a visit by Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka to the Moldovan Republic in June last year. The Czech Republic was last visited by a Moldovan Prime Minister in November 2011.
