On Wednesday 23 July 2014 the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Bohuslav Sobotka and other ministers attended a reception in the residence of the American Ambassador. The meeting was held to mark the end of Norman Eisen’s diplomatic mission in the Czech Republic. The American Embassy was visited by some important political, cultural and social figures from the Czech Republic.

The Prime Minister thanked the American Ambassador for his work, which has helped to strengthen of bilateral relations between the two countries.

The American Ambassador Norman Eisen will end his term of office in August this year. He will be replaced by an American lawyer with Czech roots, Andrew Schapiro. Norman Eisen has also worked in the White House as Special Advisor to the President for Ethics and Government Reform. He has been involved in some historic initiatives of the Obama administration related to government ethics, lobbying regulation and transparent public administration.
