A Ceremony To Commemorate Victims of Communism

On Wednesday, June 27, 2007, Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will attend a ceremony to commemorate the victims of communism in Prague’s Na Újezdě.

In addition to the Prime Minister, the ceremony will be attended by Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic Pøemysl Sobotka, Lord Mayor of Prague Pavel Bém, and Chairwoman of the Confederation of Political Prisoners Nadìžda Kavalírová. After the national anthem, the top-ranking state officials will lay flowers and wreaths at the memorial. The Prime Minister will then deliver a speech.

The commemorative act will be closed with the sounds of the tattoo. The ceremony will be held at the Memorial to the Victims of Communism in Prague 1, Na Újezdì, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
