April 11 – 12, 2008: Czech Premier To Visit Greece

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek leaves for a working visit to Greece in the morning on Friday, April 11, 2008.

The current framework of the Czech-Greek bilateral relations is formed by both countries´ EU and NATO membership. The key topics to be discussed will be the Czech Republic’s presidency of the Council of the European Union and presentation of its priorities. Other subjects for debate will cover the situation in the Balkans, cooperation in the security area, and further development of mutual economic contacts.

The programme of the Czech Premier´s official visit to Athens includes:

- reception by President Karol Papulias
- talks and a working lunch with Greek Premier Konstantinos Karamanlis
- meeting with Chairman of the Greek Parliament Dimitris Siufas
- lecture on the subject “Czech Republic as the Presiding Country in a Changing Europe“, co-organized by Konstantinos Karamanlis´s Democracy Institute
- a wreath-laying ceremony at the Memorial to Unknown Soldier
- sightseeing at the Acropolis

On Saturday, April 12, 2008 the Czech Government delegation, led by Premier Mirek Topolánek, will leave Greece for Cyprus.
