April 12 - 14, 2008: Official Visit to Cyprus

Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek will pay an official visit to the Republic of Cyprus from April 12 to 14, 2008.
Out of the new EU member states Cyprus has the highest per capita GNP. The existing possibilities of a more intense use of the potential offered by both countries´ mutual relations, primarily in the field of trade and investments, will figure among the key topics of the bilateral talks. The forthcoming discussions will also focus on the Cyprus issue and possibilities of its speedy settlement.

Premier Topolánek´s programme in Nicosia includes the following engagements:

- talks with President Demetris Christofias
- the Czech Premier will officially open a seminar for businessmen from both countries to be held in the Cyprus Economic Chamber
- a meeting with the Mayor of Nicosia Eleni Mavrou
- talks with the Chairman of the country’s House of Representatives Marios Garoyian
- Mirek Topolánek will deliver a lecture on the subject “The Role of the Czech Republic as the Presiding Country in an Expanding Europe“ and then have discussions with students of the Mediterranean Institute of Management
- a meeting with Czech countrymen
- sightseeing

The Czech Premier´s official visit will end in the evening on Monday, April 14, 2008 when the delegation will return home.
