Ceremony on Prague’s Vítkov Hill

On Tuesday, May 8, 2007, Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will attend a ceremony marking Liberation Day and the 62nd anniversary of the end of World War II to be held at the National Memorial on Vítkov Hill in Prague.

památník vítkovThe ceremony will be attended by Czech President Václav Klaus and other leading officials. National flag will be hoisted and historical standards brought in to the accompaniment of the Czech national anthem. This will be followed by the ceremonial act of laying wreaths.
After a minute of silence the ceremony will be concluded with the sound of the tattoo.

The event will take place in the Honorary Courtyard of the National Memorial on Vítkov Hill, beginning at 9:50 a.m.
