Czech Prime Minister to Pay an Official Visit to the Kingdom of Sweden

Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will be on an official visit to the Kingdom of Sweden on April 17 and 18, 2007.

Švédská vlajkaDuring his visit the Czech Prime Minister will hold talks with the Swedish Premier Fredrik Reinfeldt and Speaker of the Swedish Parliament Per Westerberg. He will also be received by King Carl XVI Gustaf. His talks with the highest Swedish officials will be focused, among other topics, on participation in the peace-keeping operations in the Balkans and Afghanistan, on regional cooperation between the two countries, and the policy of protecting human rights. The Czech Republic welcomes Sweden’s experience in preparing for the presidency of the European Council, perceiving it as a basis for fostering close cooperation between both contraries in the future. Another theme under discussion will be the European Union’s energy policy and further enlargement of the EU.
Accompanied by the Industry and Trade Minister Martin Øíman, the Czech Prime Minister will also attend a seminar for Swedish and Czech businessmen, meet the Governor of Gotland Marianne Samuelsson, and visit an ecological farm and a heating and power plant burning biofuels.
