February 25, 2008: Premier To Open a Conference on February 1948; Press Conference at 3:30 p.m.

Between February 25 and 27, 2008, Prague’s Lichtenštejnský Palace will be playing host to an international scholarly conference “February 1948 in Czechoslovakia: Start of Communist Totality and Transformations of Society“. Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek who has taken over the auspices of the conference will also inaugurate it on February 25, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. The conference will be attended by more than a hundred Czech and foreign historians and political scientists, eyewitnesses of the February 1948 events, and other distinguished guests. It is organized by the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic, the Institute for Contemporary History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, the National Archives, and the History Institute of the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Bratislava.

3:30 p.m. - press conference
4:00 p.m. - opening of the international scholarly conference
