January 14, 2008:Premier and Vice-Premier To Receive Chinese Statesman

Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will meet the visiting State Chancellor and General Secretary of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Hua Yianmin for a working breakfast on Monday, January 14, 2008. Their talks will be focused on Sino-Czech relations, in the economic sphere they will discuss, among other issues, the possibilities of eliminating non-tariff trade barriers on the Chinese part, and efforts to clarify conditions for doing business on the Chinese market. When discussing foreign-policy issues the two statesmen will deal with an invitation to the seventh ASEM summit (Asia-Europe Meeting), to be held in China later this year. Other questions under discussion will include fight against terrorism and current foreign -policy issues.

During a working lunch with General Secretary Hua Yianmin, Mr. Alexandr Vondra, Czech Vice-Premier for European Affairs, will discuss, among other topics, relations between the People’s Republic of China and the European Union, and between the Czech Republic and the People’s Republic of China. After the lunch, both statesmen will sum up the outcome of their talks at a press conference.
