January 22, 2008: Mutual Relations and the NATO Summit in April To Be Discussed by Czech and Romanian Premiers

Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic and the visiting Romanian Premier Cãlin Popescu-Tãriceanu will meet on Tuesday, January 22, 2008 for talks. After a welcoming ceremony in the garden of the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic at 10:00 a.m. and an opening round of negotiations, both delegations will move to Prague’s Hrzánský Palace.

Their subsequent bilateral talks will be focused primarily on the NATO Summit to be held in Bucharest in April. Other tropics under discussion will include energy security, European integration in the region of the Western Balkans, and other current foreign- policy issues. Both Prime Ministers will also attend the signing of agreements on investments (Protocol between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of Romania on amendment to the Agreement between the Government of the Czech Republic and the Government of Romania on the support and mutual protection of investments) and on education (Agreement between the Ministry of Education, Youth and Physical Training of the Czech Republic and the Ministry of Education, Research and Youth of Romania on cooperation in education) that will be held at 11:25 a.m.

The official programme of the Romanian Premier’s visit will then continue at 12:10 with attendance at the Economic Forum held in the Great Hall of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. Mirek Topolánek and Cãlin Popescu-Tãriceanu will deliver their speeches at this meeting.
