July 9, 2008: Premier´s Tour of Government Ministries

Premier Mirek Topolánek has decided to evaluate the work of his Government Ministers. By the end of July he’s planning to visit personally 11 Ministries to get acquainted with the way they are meeting the Government’s Policy Statement. The Premier´s first visit starts tomorrow at the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Interior Ministry.

“I´ll be talking with the Ministers, their deputies, eventually other employees and staff on what they have managed to do, which particular projects and in what phase they are today, and to what extent they have been enforced, whether they are of executive or legislative nature. We will also discuss what remains to be done, what are the problems in meeting this Government’s priorities – i.e. pruning the agenda, cutting down on bureaucracy, reducing the number of employees, solving various types of contributory organizations,“ Premier Topolánek comments on the forthcoming visits. In the Premier´s words, most of the projects in the Government’sPolicy Statement have been either launched or finished. The remaining tasks that have not yet been elaborated are scheduled for the second half of the Government’s term of office.

“Generally speaking, I am personally satisfied because we have fulfilled what we wanted to do this year. What remains to be done are a few legal regulations or legislative adjustments we would like to put through the House of Deputies and the Senate,“ adds the Premier.
