Oct 23 - 24, 2008: Premier Takes Over Auspices of the Scholarly Conference “The Men of October 1918“


A two-day international scholarly conference called “The Men of October 1918“ will be held in Prague’s Hrzánský Palace on October 23 and 24, 2008. Its purpose is to highlight the personalities who stood at the birth of the Czechoslovak state, taking part in its political, military, legal and social constitution, as well as the people representing various efforts levelled against the state. 
Held under the aegis of the Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek, the conference is organized by the Masaryk Institute and the Archive of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, The Institute of Czech History of the Faculty of Philosophy of Prague’s Charles University, The Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, University CEVRO Institut and the Office of the Government of the Czech Republic. 

On Thursday, October 23, Premier Mirek Toplánek will present a brief speech at a party for the delegates and guests of the scholarly conference “The Men of October 1918“. (The event is held in the building of the University CEVRO Institut, Jungmannova Street 17, Prague 1, beginning at 6:00 p.m.)
