Prime Minister´s Working Visit to New York

On October 14 and 15, 2007, Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic will be on a working visit to New York.

His trip will be a culmination of the campaign for the election of the Czech Republic as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for the years 2008-2009.

On Monday, October 15, 2007, on the eve of the election, Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek plans to meet the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Then the Prime Minister will attend a working lunch with the Ambassadors of the member countries of the UN Security Council, and an evening reception given for all the Ambassadors of the UN member states.

Part of the Czech delegation, led by the First Deputy Foreign Minister Tomáš Pojar, will stay on in New York to attend the voting on October 16, 2007.

The agenda of the Czech Premier’s visit to New York will be supplemented by a bilateral program – a commemorative act on Ground Zero at the memorial to the victims of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, and a visit to the Czech national building and a meeting with Czech countrymen.
