May 25, 2008: Premier Mirek Topolánek Met Silvio Berlusconi

During his holiday in Italy at the official invitation of the Italian Premier Silvio Berlusconi, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek met his Italian counterpart for talks devoted mostly to the forthcoming Czech presidency of the Council of the European Union.

Czech Premier Mirek Topolánek and his Italian counterpart Silvio Berlusconi discussed issues relating to the current international situation, mutual relations and future cooperation within the European Union. They also exchanged experience of the two countries which share the need of effecting structural reforms.

Another topic under discussion was the planned official visit by Premier Mirek Topolánek in Italy to be paid as part of his tour de capitals in the capacity of the Prime Minister of the presiding country. In addition to the Premier, today’s informal meeting was also attended on the Czech side by Transportation Minister Aleš Řebíček.
