Prime Minister Visited Karlovy Vary Region

During his tour of the Karlovy Vary Region today Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek of the Czech Republic visited the building site of the R6 express road at Lipoltov, gave a live interview to a local radio station Radio Egrensis, had a lunch with members of the Regional Economic Chamber, and visited a home for the disabled at Mnichov near Mariánské Lázně.

Some 600 students welcomed the Premier at a debate in a Cheb grammar school. Their live interest in the future of the Czech school system was corroborated by the fact that their debate with the Prime Minister lasted for almost an hour. Asked by a student how the Premier himself saw the future of the Czech Republic’s education system, Mirek Topolánek replied: “There are two distinct trends – first we want to expand the B.A. type of studies since each of you should have university education, while another trend is that prestigious schools should become research centres connected with the innovation process.“

Tomorrow, Czech Prime Minister Mirek Topolánek continues his tour with a visit to the Sokolov district.
