Tomáš Prouza has resigned from his position as State Secretary responsible for the European Affairs Section at the Office of the Government

Today, Tomáš Prouza handed Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka his resignation from the position of State Secretary responsible for the European Affairs Section at the Office of the Government, effective from 31 March 2017.

“I have thanked the Prime Minister for allowing me to contribute to a situation where the Czech Republic is once again a respected member of the European Union, has become a country whose opinion is valued and with which the other EU Member States are interested in close collaboration," said Tomáš Prouza.

"I appreciate the work Tomáš Prouza has done at the Office of the Government over more than three years. He has made an important contribution to achieving one of my main objectives – to lead a pro-European government, which is willing and able to influence the direction taken by the European Union," added Bohuslav Sobotka.

"At the end of last year I received an offer from the private sector and, after some hesitation, have decided to accept it. Because of this, I have spent the last two months taking all the necessary steps to ensure a smooth handover of my agenda," said Tomáš Prouza. From 1 April, the management of the European Affairs Section will be entrusted to PhDr. Jan Král, former Director of the Department for the Coordination of European Policies. The new State Secretary responsible for the European Affairs Section will be chosen during selection proceedings in accordance with the Civil Service Act.
