Miroslav Zámečník

Economic consultant

Miroslav Zámečník is an economic consultant. In 2009 he became a member, and later the Chairman, of the Supervisory Board of Czech Airlines. As a member of the National Economic Council, he collaborated on the preparation of anti-crisis measures. Since 2001 he has been working as a consultant in the field of financial restructuring and reorganisation of insolvent enterprises, corporate mergers and acquisitions.

His second area of specialisation is in healthcare systems, and the financing and economics of healthcare. He also focuses on these issues as a lecturer in postgraduate training programmes (the Czech Judicial Academy, the CMC Graduate School of Business), and he lectures both in the Czech Republic and abroad. The positions he has previously held include, for example, the Head of the Centre for Economic Analysis at the Office of President Václav Havel, a negotiator for the Central European Free Trade Area, a representative of the Czech Republic to the World Bank, and the Deputy Director of Konsolidační banka.

Miroslav Zámečník graduated from the University of Economics in Prague in 1984. He then went on to study at Georgetown University in Washington, majoring in international relations.
