This year as well, children from orphanages got involved in the creative Christmas competition organised by the Czech Government Office

Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka together with the head of the Czech Government Office awarded the winners of the Christmas competition on 15 December 2015. The competition was prepared for children from orphanages by the Government Office, and this year the children were asked to paint pictures based on the theme “Most beautiful Christmas present”. The children entered more than 150 pictures in this year’s second annual competition.

 

Employees of the Government Office and members of the general public, who had the opportunity to vote on the internet, chose the ten best illustrations submitted from 54 participating orphanages. More than 2,500 correspondents participated in the voting. Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka and Government Office Director Pavel Dvořák presented the prizes to the authors of the winning illustrations. Illustrations by Marie Horváthová, 15, and Klaudie Dunová, 13, from the orphanage in Most received first place.

4th place: Veronika Kavurová – K. H. Borovský Orphanage, Most
5th place: Veronika Láníková – George of Poděbrady Orphanage, Uherské Hradiště
6th place: Sandra Skorupová – Truhlářova Orphanage, Ústí nad Labem
7th place: Karel Chovanec – Melč Orphanage
8th place: Milan Kavura – K. H. Borovský Orphanage, Most
8th place: Veronika Zaňková – George of Poděbrady Orphanage, Uherské Hradiště
9th place: Michaela Marošová – Vizina Orphanage, Ostrava - Slezská
10th place: Patrik Lipianský – Klánovice Orphanage


The Christmas competition for children from orphanages is one of the main events for the public that the Czech Government office organises. Together with regular seminars and lectures at the Straka Academy, tours of the My State exhibit in Hrzánský Palace, excursions in premises of the Government office and the popular Open House at the Straka Academy, Kramářova Villa, Hrzánský Palace, Lichtenstein Palace and the Beneš Villa in Sezimovo Ústí, this is one of the activities through which the Government Office wishes to achieve maximum openness in relation to the general public.
