Open Day at the Straka's Academy

On Sunday 7 March 2010 the seat of the government of the Czech Republic – the Straka's Academy - will be open to the public from 10:00 to 17:00.

On the occasion of the 160th birth anniversary of the first Czechoslovak President and the first Prime Minister of the exile government - Tomáš Garrigue Masaryk – the visitors have the opportunity to visit the seat of the Czech government. In the morning the open day will be attended by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer.

During the tour visitors will be informed of the history of the Straka's Academy and of the present function of the building. They will have an opportunity to see the Prime Minister's study, the conference room of the Czech government and the new press centre.

The exhibition Soldiers of the Republic in the Battlefield 1914-2010, which presents key moments of the military history of our republic, will form part of the tour as well. The exhibition, which has been prepared in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence, documents the share of our soldiers in the final victory and highlights the fact that the activities of our republic in the last 100 years have not been limited only to more or less well-known military actions during the World War One and the World War Two. The exhibition is held under the auspices of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Jan Fischer and the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Defence Martin Barták.

Visitors of the Straka's Academy will be also able to see small exhibition of the company Granát Trutnov. The Office of the Government presents a collection of jewellery, some pieces of which were given as presents to important guests of the Prime Minister.
